Chapter Eight

It was still just early-morning that Sunday when we landed, and headed back to the coven, thanks to gaining two hours back from the time zone difference. I looked forward to returning home, and spending the day with the pack before working later that night at Pulse.

Of course, that wasn’t to be.

As soon as we came in, Jerry called Lisa over with a concerned look on his face, and I followed.

Jerry reported to Lisa, “While you had fun in San Antonio we had an incident here. Matt and Tammy never showed back up at the coven. The rest of the security team said they all left together, and when they drove off, those two were about to get in the car. It wasn’t even reported, until this morning at breakfast.”

He said, “We sent a team to Pulse, and they found Matt alive, but badly burned and unconscious. There was no sign of Tammy, or even a scent trail. We have people out looking, but until Matt wakes up and gives us some clue, there’s little chance we’ll stumble across her.”

Lisa looked at me, “Fire sorcerer? What would he want with Tammy?”

“Jared, another damned emergency, I love you, this shouldn’t take long.”

He replied, “Be careful Miku, and I love you too.”

I smiled at hearing it, as I laid down on the bed, and spirit walked.

The fact I didn’t find her in Seattle only strengthened my determination to find her, and I started moving my spirit up and down the roads and interstates like arteries, and searched nearby towns. I figured the fire sorcerer would try to hide, but how far would he go?

I was far south of Seattle when I finally felt his aura, and Tammy’s. I was in Lakewood, and as I closed in, I could see they were in the Candlewood Suites. I felt sick at the sight of them in bed together, naked. It was obvious what they’d been up to.

Tammy was looking at him like she was deeply in love, and I was really glad Matt wasn’t here to see this. It wasn’t her fault, but would his heart understand that when he found out?

As for Carlos, I finally understood why he’d taken Tammy, and in hindsight it should have been obvious to me, except it wasn’t. He was unconscious, and being turned into a vampire. Suddenly his fascination with me the other night took on a
